WNY Brain Bee @ Canisius College

The WNY Brain Bee is a high school competition designed to inspire students to learn about the human brain and motivate them to enter professions where they can treat and find cures for brain disorders. Students will be tested on their knowledge of  the human brain. Topics include brain anatomy & development, neurological diseases, memory, movement, and sensation.

Format: During Round I & II, all students receive the same questions and  record written answers . During Round III, students give oral responses to questions. Students compete until they have answered 3 questions incorrectly .

What can I win?:
•       1st  place : Eligible to compete in the National Brain Bee. Stipend for travel expenses for winner and adult companion.
•  1st, 2nd, & 3rd place:  Cash prizes

How do I prepare for the competition?
•       Students should study the free primer  “Brain Facts”
•       Students can attend the free Brain Bee Prep Class at Canisius College

Who can participate?
•  All WNY high school students in grades 9th -12th can participate.
•  Registration,  primer, and prep class are all free.

Join us on March 4th as we bring you the science behind the issues at the 2020 Climate Science Education Workshop.  Learn what the scientific community has found out about one of the largest challenges facing society today and come away with engaging, hands-on activities that teach your students about our changing climate.

The National Energy Education Development Project (NEED) and National Fuel are pleased to provide this free workshop for 5th-12th grade teachers. This workshop is provided through funding from National Fuel.

•       Hands-on Kits and Materials Provided
•       Professional Development Credit Available (6 hours CTLE100)

Fun workshops to inspire girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

For Western New York’s … 6th to 9th grade girls / 10th – 12th grade girls (on a Roll program with SAT Prep & Workshops) & their parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors & other interested adults.

Tech Savvy is designed to encourage girls to explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers by a fun, illuminating day of activities.  Studies show that after middle school, girls often become disinterested in science and math courses.  High-school girls tend to enroll in science courses at lower levels than their male counterparts.  Tech Savvy is presented  and sponsored by the American Association of University Women Buffalo Branch, Inc.    Major support for Tech Savvy is provided by Linde. UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences also provides support for TS15.
