Join Western STANYS as we partner with the NYS Master Teacher Program to present our annual Mini-Conference.  There will be presentations by STANYS Members and Master Teachers sharing instructional strategies that engage student in 3 dimensional learning around NYSSLS. WNY INVENTION CONVENTION @ Buffalo Museum of Science

Open viewing for Inventors, Families, and Museum Guests is from 11:30-1:30. Explore the Museum and eat at the Food Trucks! Event is free with admission to the Museum.

Come see Inventors from across Erie and Niagara Counties display their creativity process through the inventions they conceived of and have prototyped.  Many of these students from K-8th grade are winners of invention events at their schools and our event could bring them one step  closer to the National Invention Convention held at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan in early June!

The mission of Western New York Invention Convention is to develop and enhance creative thinking and problem-solving skills in children in grades K-8 through the processes of invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship- while encouraging interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

This session will be focused on the career opportunities and pathways in Manufacturing Trades. fields of Engineering (welding, mechatronics, electrical, machining, machine repair, …).

Past and Future panelists “outside” of the topic are invited (as an option) to experience the format and certainly share the experience with youth in their lives.  The objective of this particular discussion is to connect students to people currently on career paths in a variety of trades to inspire curiosity and gain a wide perspective of insight.

The Gene: An Intimate History @ Virtual Panel Discussion

Join us for a Ken Burns Virtual Panel Discussion and Educational Event, on Thursday, May 27 from 4 to 5 pm on OVEE. In partnership with Roswell Park and Western New York STEM Hub, Buffalo Toronto Public Media will host a virtual screening event and panel discussion around the key topics addressed in the Ken Burns and Barak Goodman documentary, “The Gene: An Intimate History.”

The screening will consist of segments from the four hour documentary. Following the screening, a moderated panel discussion featuring Roswell Park experts will highlight Western New York’s signature contributions to the world’s understanding of human genetics.
