Many young adults begin a science major in college with  little idea of the different career options for science majors or what a scientist does in the laboratory. The Young Scientist Research Program @ Canisius College provides high school students a hands-on research experience so students can see for themselves what it entails to be a scientist. It also provides opportunities for students to learn from professionals in many different scientific and health professions about career options.

Students who complete this program will be able to:
•       Decide whether a science major is the right path for them to take in college.
•       Perform multiple experimental techniques in molecular biology, cell biology,  neurobiology, and ecology.
•       Develop skills to excel in college-level science classes.
•       Explore different career pathways  available for  science majors
