AGENDA: The program theme is “Closing the WNY STEM Skills Gap – In the Middle”. This program will feature the release of the report convened by WNY STEM on the Middle Skills STEM Gap in the region. Welcoming remarks will be made by ECC President, Jack Quinn, as the new ECC STEM facility is now in the region’s near future. A presentation on the middle skills gap in advanced manufacturing will be made by Peter Coleman, Executive Director of Buffalo Niagara Advanced Manufacturing Association and member of the expert panel for the report. Chris Souzzi, VP for Business Development at WNY STAMP (Science-Technology-Advanced Manufacturing Park), will update us on progress with development and STEM jobs at the new Park. Kathy Heinle, Director of Career & Technical Education for Buffalo Public Schools, will provide an overview of the new South Park High School, ECC and SolarCity partnership funded under a $4.2 million federal grant. She will also update us on the Burgard High School partnership with Alfred State in auto technology, welding and machine tool technology. Following the meeting, you are invited for coffee and networking, compliments of ECC and/or join a 30-minute tour led by Joanne Colmerauer of the new Nano Technology Lab and the Machine Tool Lab.
The meeting will also include discussion of WNY STEM news and announcements.
